Summary: Never let it be said that Lois Lane doesn't get her way...

***

"Chumpy is not a word, Martha Ann."

"Is so, Grandpa Kent! I get Triple word score!"

"In that case, I'm going to have to challenge you. Let's look it up in the dictionary."

"If you're wrong, you lose your turn, Grandpa Kent."

"I know, sweetheart, I know." The elderly man with silvering hair turned to the wall monitor. "HAL, access online dictionary, English standard words, find 'chumpy.'"

[Working]

Seconds later HAL had the results.

[chumpy \ adj 1 : behavior indicative of a chump 2 : ACTING FOOLISHLY 3 : ACTING LIKE A BLOCKHEAD -- chump•i•ness n (c)2194 Lane Publishing, Inc. and Merriam-Webster, Incorporated. All rights reserved. Originally submitted by Lois Lane-Kent circa 2050.]

The elder Kent started to chuckle as he listened to the last bit from the computer. 'She finally got her way.' His musings were interrupted by his Great-Great Grand-daughter.

"See! I told you so!"

"Yes, Martha Ann. As usual, Grandpa was 'chumpy' to have ever doubted you."

THE END

Author's Notes:

According to the board, this story just leapt into my head. It must have also leapt right back out because I discovered it on my hard drive while I was doing some much needed 'my computer is acting weird, better get everything off it soon' cleaning. I had totally forgotten about it, even though it garnered quite a bit of FDK.
